HH100/351/14 28.4.99 MT SOLOR WAS TORPEDOED 30M SW OF BARDSEY ISLAND WHILST IN CONVOY HX332. REMAINED AS THE CENTRE OF A HUNT BY 21ST ESCORT GROUP UNTIL TUGS TOOK HER IN TOW TO MILFORD HAVEN. WAS DISCOVERED AT ST ANN'S HEAD TO BE HOLED IN THE ENGINE ROOM AND LIABLE TO SINK WITHOUT WARNING. THE RESCUE TUG 'STORM KING' BEACHED HER IN OXWICH BAY ON 29.1.1945 IN 5132.98N, 0408.75W [OGB]. ACCEPTED AS A TOTAL LOSS AND ON 15.3.1945 THE FWD TWO-THIRDS WAS REFLOATED AND TAKEN TO BRITON FERRY TO BE SCRAPPED. THE STERN PORTION WAS TO HAVE REMAINED AT OXWICH UNTIL JULY 1953 WHEN IT WAS DUE TO BE SALVAGED FOR SCRAP, HOWEVER RECORDS INDICATE THAT THE SALVAGE OPERATION NEVER TOOK PLACE.
